Armstrong 6 February 2023 Cameras: Sony DSC-HX60 & iPhone 12 A brief getaway trip to San Diego Harbor at Manchester Grand Hyatt. Most of my images were taken through window on 29th floor during dawn, daytime, and dusk. I didn't just sit by my window the entire 3 days. I actually did go outside of the hotel. In fact, Elaine and I walked many miles exploring downtown San Diego, from Little Italy to Seaport Village and the Convention Center. We even explored the interior of the Midway, an enormous ship the size of a shopping mall! Sunset & Moonset From The Grand Hyatt If you are short on time these are my two best images. They were taken with a Sony DSC-HX60, a remarkable pocket camera with an extraordinary 30x zoom lens. Trolley View 29 Stories Below Our Marvelous Room Window The Remarkable U.S. Navy Carrier USS Midway The USS Midway had 18 five inch guns, plus over a hundred 20 & 40 mm guns. I had many collections before becoming a biologist, including rocks, nails, matchbooks, coins, sea shells, and "bullet shells" (shell casings). My favorite was a 5 inch shell casing given to me by a neighborhood friend who served in the Navy! Flight deck of USS Midway. This image shows the lens quality of this little camera that was unfortunately discontinued. Corsair on display in hangar deck of USS Midway. This spacious deck has many 2nd World War planes on display. It is a huge museum 685 feet in length (longer than 3 American football fields)! Steps from this deck lead down to a maze of living quarters, mess halls, laundry rooms, and massive engines. This remarkable ship was longer than than the Titanic and as high as a 20 story building!
