Mt. Roberts Temperate Rain Forest
Special thanks to Theresa Walden and Scott Ranger of the Mt. Roberts Nature Center for
their expertise in identifying fungi and lichens of Mt. Roberts and Mendenhall Glacier.

Spruce forest and golden yellow devil's club (Oplopanax horridus).


Devil's club (Oplopanax horridus) has red berries and spiny stems. It belongs to the ginseng family (Araliaceae).


Mt. Roberts Temperate Rain Forest Fungi

Purple fairy club or purple squid mushroom (Clavaria purpurea = Alloclavaria purpurea)

Clustered funnel mushroom (Clitocybe subalpina).

The poisonous fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria).

Witch's butter (Tremella mesenterica), similar to (Dacrymyces palmatus).
