A badger (Taxidea taxus) peering from the edge of its burrow. This unique North American mammal belongs to the family Mustelidae, along with weasels, ferrets, otters, wolverines and skunks. Badgers and coyotes occupy the same hunting territory and reportedly tolerate each other's presence.
