Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park #2

Quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) in Lassen Volcanic National Park.


Left: Jeffrey pine (Pinus jeffreyi). Right: Ponderosa pine (P. ponderosa). These two similar pines grow side-by-side in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Hybrids between the two species are occasionally found.

A bumble bee (Bombus) on rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus) near Manzanita Lake.

A lovely pond of yellow water lilies (Nuphar polysepala).

Mountain alder (Alnus incana ssp. tenuifolia) and duckweed (Lemna turionifera).
