Most of the wildflowers in this image are desert sunflower (Gerarea canescens) and desert sand verbena (Abronia villosa var. villosa) Desert sand verbena (Abronia villosa var. villosa) in Coyote Creek. Ground mallow (Eremalche exilis). This small annual belongs to same genus as desert five-spot. Dune Evening Primrose (Oenothera deltoides ssp. deltoides). This beautiful wildflower was being rapidly devoured by the following caterpillar! Caterpillar of the white-lined sphinx moth (Hyles lineata).
