Mexican verbena (Verbena ciliata) at Casa Malpais archeological site.

Red globemallow (cf. Sphaeralcea parviflora) near Show Low.

Red morning glory or scarlet creeper (Ipomoea coccinea) near Show Low.

Rose hips (Rosa sp.) along Little Colorado River near Greer, Arizona .


Shrub On Springerville Volcanic Field

Desert wolfberry (Lycium macrodon), a member of the tomato family (Solanaceae). It grows on volcanic mesa of Casa Malpais near Springerville. The red berries were eaten by native people and possibly dispersed by them.


Christine's Mystery Shrub In Pinyon-Juniper Woodland Near Show Low

Desert olive or New Mexico Olive (Forestiera neomexicana) Olive Family (Oleaceae). This species also listed in some references as Forestiera pubescens or F. pubescens var. parviflora. It is a large, deciduous shrub with spiny branchlets, opposite leaves and yellow fall foliage.
