Broomrapes On Mt. San Jacinto

Orobanchaceae: Orobanche parishii ssp. ? (Parish Broomrape) Collection # 1347

This species of Orobanche is similar to O. parishii in San Diego County; however, it does not exaclty fit the taxonomic descriptions or my images of ssp. brachyloba and ssp. parishii. The host shrub is San Bernardino rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus nauseosus ssp. bernardinus).

Orobanchaceae: Orobanche parishii ssp. ? (Parish Broomrape) Collection # 1348

A short-lobed Orobanche parishii in Tamarack Valley that resembles the southern California coastal Orobanche parishii ssp. brachyloba. The host shrub is tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus)

Orobanchaceae: Orobanche fasciculata (Clustered Broomrape)

Photographed in Tamarack Valley at an elevation of 9,000 ft. (274 m). It was growing near short-lobed O. parishii (see previous images) on the same species of host shrub (Artemisia dracunculus).
