Meadow bordered by a diverse coniferous forest: Ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa), limber pine (P. flexilis), 2-leaf pinyon pine (P. edulis), corkbark fir (Abies lasiocarpa var. arizonica), white fir (A. concolor), Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca), and Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii). There are also three species of juniper (Juniperus) in the Sandia Mountains: Rocky mountain juniper (Juniperus scopulorum), alligator juniper (J. deppeana), and one-seed juniper (J. monosperma).
